Electrical Eggs UK
Fundraising
Electrical Eggs UK is a non-profit making organisation, providing an important service to convention organisers and attendees. However, we do have running costs and most of our income is generated by fund-raising or direct donations.
- We produce almost all of our own publications and documentation, since professional printers can be expensive, but that means our own equipment needs replacement ink cartridges etc.
- We may also be asked to help conventions pay hire fees for wheelchairs or special equipment if their budget is stretched.
- When one of our volunteers agrees to work as a Site Supervisor at a convention, basically running the Eggs UK department at a convention, we usually pay their convention attendance fee.
- On top of all that, there are all the small sundries such as postage stamps, stationery & printer/copier paper, badge parts etc.
- Our wish list includes money towards studio fees for the provision of Talking Con Guides, a Braille typewriter, a portable induction loop & closed caption system to make available to conventions
So you can see why we have to remain very active about fund-raising. Some of our ideas have included the sale of T-shirts, featuring an exclusive design by British artist David A. Hardy; packs of notecards, featuring the artwork of SMS, Sue Jones and Jaeson Finn; small cross-stitch sets, raffles and the famous R2-D2 Lucky Dip! If you have an idea for helping to raise funds for the organisation, we would like to hear from you.
We have also been trying to launch our Eggs 100 Club but we don't have enough participants yet. Each member agrees to pay £1 per month to participate in our monthly prize draw, when they have a chance of winning either £25 or £10. This means that after the prizes have been given, we still have a surplus of £65 per month to put towards our running costs.
All our financial comings & goings are carefully monitored and recorded by our treasurer, Mike "Sparks" Rennie.
